The fact is it was developed for PS4, much more than PS3. The number of things we could demonstrate and prove was limited - there’s been some good examples - but now we go into the PS4 era, that companion device will look far more clear. We’re optimistic it’s got a lot more legs left in it and the PS4 has given it a shot in the arm.
According to the Playstation hardware sales forecast for the current business year, Sony is expecting a drop in adoption of its portable systems. With the news that PS4 games will require remote play support, it seems that Sony may have launched the Vita a couple of years early, but perhaps it was just to give others a leg up by being early adopters. If Vita sales happen to go above predictions, then perhaps it will be true that they launched just a bit too early.
